There are many accessories when it comes to access control. Using an app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer you can check the status of your gate, and give it commands to open or close from anywhere in the world (assuming of course the device you are using has network signal). The way it works is you connect the MyQ gateway device to your modem and from there the gateway device communicates directly with the gate operators. As long as your modem is 300 feet or closer to the operator it should work smoothly. It’s very simple to install and use and is great if you are not home for an Amazon delivery and want to provide temporary access.

We try to take advantage of solar power every opportunity we get. If your gate is in a location or near to a location with good sun exposure, it is easy to connect a 20 watt solar panel and keep your operator running seamlessly for an average of 20 plus cycles per day with average amount of sunlight. Running electrical wiring and conduit can turn into an extra costly expense, especially if the gate is a long distance away from the nearest power source. Most gate operators run directly off trickle charge batteries or have battery back-up if you are connected to direct power and the power goes out. Liftmaster operators are pretty maintenance free. Every few years you will need to replace the batteries with new ones but it is affordable and recommended so that there is no damage done to the operator.
