In a nutshell, chain link fencing is the most affordable way to secure your property while maintaining visibility. Vinyl privacy slats can always be added later if desired. Click on the button to see more pictures.
Chain link fencing is the most common way of fencing off commercial and residential properties for both security and visibility purposes. Barbed wire and sometimes razor ribbon is added as an extra deterrent. Residential chain link fencing is also popular, especially in areas where it’s more likely to flood (since water can easily flow through the diamonds of the chain link fabric).
Chain link is most commonly a silver color because it is galvanized metal. Chain link can also be in a black or green color. The pipe is usually powder coated and the fabric is dipped in a vinyl coating. Chain link fencing lasts a really long time and a great bang for your buck. We often replace chain link fences that have been in place for over 30 to 50 years!
Chain link fencing doesn’t have to be non-private. You can always add vinyl privacy slats later on. However, it’s important to build the fence correctly in order for it to take on the extra wind load it will have once you add the privacy slats. If you are in an area with regular high winds and/or flooding, privacy slats are not necessarily recommended. When it comes to any kind of fencing project, including chain link fencing, it’s very important to use experienced fence companies in your area who can point to examples of their work and who stand behind it after the fact. Rocket Fence honors a 1 year workmanship warranty for any chain link fence we install. This covers any defect that is a direct result of the installation process itself (material defects are not included in this – manufacturers/distributors of the materials are responsible for this aspect). Rocket Fence are local chain link fence installers in Cypress and surrounding north Houston areas.
Chain link fencing is great for schools, churches, commercial businesses, and residences alike. Just like with anything else, there are different grades of material. They are:
● Residential grade:-
Residential chain link pipe is usually pretty thin [.065] with an 11-1/2 gauge fabric. It is pretty lightweight and will not withstand much external force.
● Light commercial grade:-
Light commercial chain link pipe is a schedule 20 (or BF-20) with either 11 or 9-gauge fabric.
● Full commercial grade:-
The commercial-grade chain link pipe is schedule 40 with 9 gauge fabric. It is a little more costly but will last much longer without the need for repairs.
We buy our chain link only from certified fence suppliers such as Binford Supply, Eagle Fence Distribution, & Merchants Metals. We never buy it from suppliers who do not specialize in fencing. Home Depot and Lowe’s usually only carry residential and cheaper grade chain link.
Chain link gates are also the most affordable when you need a larger entry or access gate as compared to wrought iron or wood. They can be built to swing, roll on a v-track on the ground, or slide on nylon rollers suspended off the ground (cantilever style).

Chain link is often called "hurricane" or "cyclone" fencing due to its durability and ability to withstand most hurricane related storms such as high winds and flooding here in the South. If it doesn't withstand more severe flooding incidents, it is more affordable to replace than other kinds of fencing.
Chain link fence can increase property value if it effectively contains pets and children and keeps other unwanted critters and would be trespassers off your property. Chain link isn't always the most appealing look so some potential home buyers may be turned off by a chain link fence. Chain link is very common for commercial and industrial properties in order to have a cost effective way to fence off large properties, keep folks out, and last a long time with little to no maintenance.
The main way to make chain link look nice is to get the black vinyl version of it. Green vinyl can be an option as well.
